There are five official languages of UNWTO. There are Arabic, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
With multilingualism being a core value of the United Nations and language diversity being an integral part of the tourism experience and tourism development, the Department of Language Services provides translation and interpretation services from and into the official languages of the UNWTO, namely Arabic, English, French, Russian and Spanish, with Chinese having been also approved by the General Assembly and pending ratification.
The Department also plays a role in upholding language standards and establishing terminology within the Secretariat. It ensures that the official documents of the UNWTO, including all decisions and resolutions of its governing bodies, are produced in all the official languages.
