Polytechnic of Leiria marks World Tourism Day 2021 with the announcement of the films nominated for the EATSA Film Festival Awards
The School of Tourism and Sea Technology (ESTM) and CiTUR (Centre for Research, Development and Innovation in Tourism) of the Polytechnic of Leiria, mark the World Tourism Day with an event designed to have worldwide impact: the 1st edition of EATSA - Art & Tourism Film Festival (EATSA Film Fest).
"Tourism for an inclusive growth" will be the motto of the opening speech of CiTUR´s researcher Maria Natália Perez Santos, which will be followed by a welcome message by the Presidency of the Polytechnic of Leiria and the testimonial video of Alessandra Priante, Regional Director for Europe, World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
This festival is the result of a partnership between the Euro-Asia Tourism Studies Association (EATSA), the Centro de Portugal Film Commission (Portugal) and the Polytechnic of Leiria, and aims to support the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), listed by the WTO, promoting the values of sustainability and good tourism practices among young tourism students.
The announcement of the nominated films in each thematic category (Culture & Heritage, Arts & Creativity, Tourism Destinations, Sports & Leisure, Sustainable Tourism Issues, Environment & Ecology, Social Issues and Adventure & Expeditions) will take place on September 27, 2021, at the School of Tourism and Maritime Technology (Peniche/Portugal), and live-streamed globally.
Through the evidencing of good practices and success stories, and questioning of issues that urgently require solution, the EATSA Film Fest aims to contribute, at a global scale, to a serious reflection not only on the issues directly related to tourism but also others that impact it, thus launching two-way bridges between society and higher education institutions with tourism courses.
With an international jury of 33 experts from 17 countries, the EATSA Film Fest is structured in two complementary sections:
- the ARTLAB Section, specifically dedicated to films produced in an academic context, that received 219 films from 70 educational institutions in 50 countries.
- the Master Section, dedicated to professional productions, which in this 1st edition had 141 films submitted (100 documentaries and 41 promotional films) from 40 countries.
The complete programming of the festival will start with the announcement of the nominated films on September 27, which will be followed by a two-week programming of talks and film screenings (from Sept 29th to Oct 15th), ending with the announcement of the winning films, on November 10, also at ESTM. Politécnico de Leiria assinala o Dia Mundial do Turismo 2021 anunciando os filmes nomeados para os Prémios do EATSA Film Festival
A Escola Superior de Turismo e Tecnologia do Mar (ESTM) e o CiTUR (Centro de Investigação, Desenvolvimento e Inovação em Turismo) do Politécnico de Leiria, assinalam o Dia Mundial do Turismo apresentando este ano um evento concebido para ter impacto à escala mundial: a 1ª edição do EATSA - Art & Tourism Film Festival (EATSA Film Fest).
“Turismo para um crescimento inclusivo” será o mote da intervenção inicial da investigadora do CiTUR Maria Natália Perez Santos, num programa cuja abertura contará com a Presidência do Politécnico de Leiria e com o vídeo-testemunho de Alessandra Priante, Regional Director for Europe, World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Este festival resulta de uma parceria entre a Euro-Asia Tourism Studies Association (EATSA), a Centro de Portugal Film Commission (Portugal) e o Politécnico de Leiria, e tem como objetivo apoiar a prossecução dos Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS), enunciados pela OMT, promovendo os valores da sustentabilidade e as boas práticas do turismo entre os jovens estudantes de turismo.
O anúncio dos filmes nomeados em cada categoria temática (Cultura e Património, Arte e Criatividade, Destinos Turísticos, Desporto e Lazer, Turismo Sustentável, Ambiente e Ecologia, Questões Sociais e Aventura e Expedições) terá lugar no dia 27 de setembro de 2021, na Escola Superior de Turismo e Tecnologia do Mar (Peniche/Portugal), sendo difundido em live-streaming para todo o mundo.
Evidenciando boas práticas e casos de sucesso, e questionando situações que carecem de solução urgente, o EATSA Film Fest propõe-se contribuir à escala mundial para uma reflexão séria não só sobre as problemáticas diretamente relacionadas com o turismo, mas também outras que o impactam, lançando desta forma pontes de duas vias entre a sociedade e as instituições de ensino superior com cursos de turismo.
Com um júri internacional constituído por 33 peritos de 17 países, o EATSA Film Fest estrutura-se em duas secções complementares:
- a Secção ART-LAB, especificamente dedicada a filmes produzidos em contexto académico, tendo recebido 219 filmes de 70 instituições de ensino de 50 países;
- a Secção Master, na qual competem produções profissionais, e que nesta 1ª edição contou com 141 filmes inscritos (100 documentários e 41 filmes promocionais), de 40 países.
A programação completa do festival começará assim com o anúncio dos filmes nomeados no dia 27 de setembro, que será seguido de uma programação de duas semanas de palestras e exibições dos filmes (de 29 de setembro a 15 de outubro), terminando com o anúncio dos filmes vencedores, no dia 10 de novembro, também na ESTM.
