The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) cordially invites its Member States to participate in the autumn edition of the 2015 UNWTO Practicum programme. This capacity building programme will include a workshop on Crisis Communications in Tourism and will be held in English, at the UNWTO headquarters in Spain (Madrid), and in the Principality of Andorra from 22 to 29 November 2015.

The UNWTO Practicum has the threefold objective of:

• (a) building capacity of officials from the National Tourism Administrations of UNWTO Member States in their core areas of responsibility;

• (b) familiarizing them with the UNWTO and UNWTO.Themis programmes of work and the activities and services provided therein; and

• (c) creating the opportunity for networking between the participants and with the responsible UNWTO and UNWTO.Themis officials and staff.

In this way, NTA officials can obtain greater benefits from the added value which UNWTO offers its Members as well as having face-to-face contact with its officials in the different programme areas and regional programmes.

As indicated in the attached Information Note (below), air transport to Madrid for arrival and from Barcelona (Spain) for the return is to be covered by the country sending the participant, while accommodation and internal transport Madrid – Andorra – Barcelona will be covered by UNWTO.

 

Candidates  wishing to attend the UNWTO Practicum should:

• present an official letter of nomination from the highest authority of their National Tourism Administration (Minister, Director-General);

• hold a post at management level in their National Tourism Administration;

• have an excellent command of English as the Seminar will be conducted in this language;

• be able to contribute actively to the UNWTO Practicum proceedings;

• fill in the application form and

• upload the supporting documents as indicated in the Practicum Info-Note, as soon as possible. If uploading is not possible, send the documents, and use following subject “Practicum15-[country]-[name]-[type of document]”.

 

Please note that applying does not mean that the nominee has been automatically accepted as a participant.

Due to the interactive nature of the UNWTO Practicum, it will be limited to 20 participants and a final selection of participants will be made. The proposed candidates will be selected on merit and those selected will be informed via email.
