REGISTRATION for an UNWTO-GWU Online Course on Tourism as a Path to International Cooperation and Sustainable Development

 

The UNWTO.Themis Foundation, in collaboration with The George Washington University, is launching the 2016/2017 University Course on “Tourism and International Cooperation for Development”. This intensive course trains university graduates, industry professionals and government officials in subject areas related to international cooperation and development through tourism. The course will be held in English, with On-line part starting from October 31 to December 12 and On-site part at the George Washington University, Washington DC, USA, in Spring 2017 (dates to be confirmed).

 

We would like to inform you that the course has a new format. The Course will be offered in two separate stand-alone components - an On-line Course and an On-site Practicum Experience in Washington DC, USA with duration of one week. Each part of the of the Course represents an idepentent component, therefore you are not obliged to take both components.

 

On-line component of the Course, scheduled for October 31 - December 12, 2016 has a cost of $ 1, 255 USD and the inscriptions are open till September 30. For additional information, please, write to [email protected]

 

This University Course has the threefold objective of: (a) providing participants with basic knowledge and tools in order to take part in international cooperation project; (b) disseminating UNWTO’s principles and guidelines, especially tourism’s role in employment creation and poverty alleviation; and (c) developing innovative approaches linked to UN Declaration of 2017 by fostering tourism opportunities for networking and community building between participants, industry professionals and tourism stakeholders.

 

Candidates presented for the University Course on Tourism and International Cooperation for Development” should hold a post at management level in the National Tourism Administration of their countries and be able to contribute actively to the Course proceedings. Candidates should have an excellent command of English, as the Course will be conducted in this language.

Please note that applying does not mean that the nominee has been automatically accepted as a participant. A final selection of participants will be carried out and those selected will be informed via email.
