11th UNWTO Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner

Since 2003, the UNWTO Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in the tourism sector, recognizing exceptional leaders in the categories of Creation and Dissemination of Knowledge and Lifetime Achievement, as well as outstanding projects in the categories of Public Policy and Governance, Research and Technology, Enterprises and Non-governmental Organizations. These achievements are in line with the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism and the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

In this occasion, the 11th UNWTO Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner were celebrated for the second consecutive time in collaboration with FITUR in Madrid, Spain. During the ceremony, the UNWTO Ulysses Prize Laureate was presented and  the winners and runner-ups for each of the specific tourism initiarive categories were finally unveiled. The awardees were given the opportunity to present their innovative projects and achievements during the UNWTO Awards Symposium one day prior to the ceremony. Learn more about the Symposium here.
