26th Meeting of the Task Force for the Protection of Children in Tourism

The 26th meeting of the Task Force for the Protection of Children in Tourism, held on 11 March 2011, in conjunction with the annual edition of the ITB Berlin tourism fair, provided a forum for tourism’s key-players to share innovative and inspiring initiatives undertaken to protect children. With the focus of the meeting's first session on the protection of children in tourism planning and development, a second session enabled stakeholders to share actions taken in the broader sphere of child protection in tourism.

Coordinated by UNWTO, the express mission of the Task Force is to contribute to the prevention of all potential forms of child exploitation in the tourism sector, be it sexual exploitation, child labour or child trafficking, etc. Featuring multi-stakeholder participation, it draws together tourism industry groups, governments, international organisations, NGOs and specialized media outlets. The latest meeting of this open-ended network promises to be another significant opportunity for the productive exchange of information, experiences and best practices linked to child protection through tourism.
