II Workshop - SCBP, for the CIS countries and Georgia (2011-2012)

Given the importance of solid tourism statistics and the provision of relevant training to its Member States, UNWTO has developed a capacity building programme that spans for period of two years and is designed for officials from National Tourism Administrations (NTA), National Statistical Offices (NSO) and Central Banks (CB) through collaboration with a regional hub, which serves as the training center.

The Statistics Capacity Building Programme (SCBP) is a key element of UNWTO’s programme for the implementation of the UN ratified International Recommendations on Tourism Statistics 2008 (IRTS 2008) and Tourism Satellite Account: Recommended Methodological Framework 2008 (TSA:RMF 2008). It comprises a regional Statistics Capacity Building Programmes and a national Statistics Capacity Building Programme, both complementary and each with an approach deemed most effective and appropriate for its scope.

UNWTO and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in cooperation with Statistics of Austria are convening Statistics Capacity-building Programme for the CIS countries and Georgia (2011-2012). The first Workshop took place on 22-25 November, 2011 in Baku, Azerbaijan and proved to be very successful.

The second Workshop took place on 7-9 November, 2012, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
