Annual Global Wine Tourism Report 2025

Wine tourism has grown significantly over the past decade, becoming a dynamic and profitable part of the global wine industry. It contributes to sustainable development by diversifying rural economies, creating jobs, and preserving cultural and natural heritage. Yet, despite its growing importance, the sector still faces a lack of reliable data at the international level—limiting the ability of policymakers and businesses to make informed decisions.

To address this gap, Geisenheim University, in collaboration with UN Tourism, the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), the Great Wine Capitals (GWC), and WineTourism.com, is conducting a global survey on wine tourism This survey is a key step in collecting critical data directly from wineries, with the insights gathered set to help shape the future of wine tourism and support more evidence-based planning across the sector. Wineries from across the world are warmly invited to take part in the survey. The findings of the study will be freely available in the form of a report and will be presented at the 9th UN Tourism Global Conference on Wine Tourism in Plovdiv, Bulgaria on 6–7 October 2025.
