Third International Avian and Human Influenza Simulation Exercise Bangkok, Thailand 19-20 September 2008

(FOR MEMBER STATES ONLY)

The result of this third international exercise substantiated the findings of the previous exercises held in Paris and Jakarta that fast and sincere reporting is one of the most crucial aspects of an AHI pandemic. It stressed the importance of the fact that the public sector, the private sector, and international organizations should act in a concerted manner when addressing critical issues in a pandemic situation including resource allocation and citizen evacuation. At the same time, it reached the conclusion that information networks should be established to facilitate effective and efficient crisis communications. This exercise enabled UNWTO to further advance its knowledge and research on AHI, particularly to its regional applications.
