Workshop "Towards a low carbon tourism in Quintana Roo", Mexico

The World Wildlife Fund Mexico (WWF) successfully conducted a workshop at the Fairmont Mayakoba Hotel, Mayan Riviera, Mexico, from 19 to 21 September 2011. The objective of this workshop, entitled "Towards a Low Carbon Tourism in Quintana Roo", was to establish a diagnosis on the current status of local, national and international strategies for the implementation of a low carbon development in the tourism sector and to analyze the mitigation and adaptation measures to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. 


UNWTO (Mr. Luigi Cabrini, Director of Sustainable Development of Tourism), participated and expressed strong  support for the initiative, which is in line with the “ Climate change and tourism” agenda of the Organization
