The first Conference on sustainable tourism development in the Arab world

The first Conference on sustainable tourism development in the Arab world, organized by UNWTO jointly with the Government of Jordan, the League of Arab States and the Arab Tourism Organization was held in Amman on 17 June. Several ministerial delegations participated at this high level meeting where key issues relating to sustainability were debated, in particular the environmental and the social implications of tourism development with special emphasis on the importance of involving local communities.
