UNWTO Training Course on Sustainable Tourism in Ghana
A four-day UNWTO training course on Sustainable Tourism: Destination Management for Enhancing the Local Economic Impact from Tourism was carried out at the Busua Beach Resort, in Busua, Western Region of Ghana, from 8th to 11th March 2011.           
 
This course was attended by Mr. S. Donkoh, Acting Deputy Executive Director of Finance and Administration Department at Ghana Tourist Board, Mr. Yaro, Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. E. Hammond, Regional Director of Ghana Tourist Board and 30 participants from the Tourism Industry in Ghana West Coast (GWC), both from the public and private sectors, national and international NGOs and by the public-private partnership GWC-DMO.
 
To meet the objective of enhancing the knowledge and skills in all key areas of destination management, the course made use of a theoretical-practical methodology, which focused on analyzing experiences applicable to the participants and to Ghana West Coast, including presentations, discussions, debates, group work with case studies, practical activities and a field visit in Butre.
