Within the framework of the UNWTO.Themis Foundation Trustees Meeting held on the 25th of January, the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization, Mr. Taleb Rifai, visited the UNWTO.Themis Foundation and then, together with the Minister of Tourism and Finance of the Principality of Andorra, Mr. Pere López, presented the principal conclusions of the Trustees’ meeting at a press conference.

Amongst all the points presented at the press conference, a special emphasis was given to the UNWTO.Themis Foundation’s role and on how to boost it in the Principality of Andorra. With this in mind, one of the first initiatives proposed was the Foundation’s collaboration in the creation of a Tourism Observatory, as well as carrying out training activities aimed at the Principality’s tourism sector.

During the press conference, the Secretary General expressed his intention to make sure that the Foundation “is more involved in Andorra’s needs”, therefore assuring a stronger relationship between the UNWTO.Themis Foundation and the Principality of Andorra. He also referred to the tourism sector forecast and was optimistic about the sector’s recovery during 2010.
