UNWTO and Andorra in the first World Tourism Forum
Within the framework of the UNWTO.Themis Foundation’s Trustees’ Meeting that was held on 12 April, the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization, Mr. Taleb Rifai, and the Minister of Economy and Finance of the Principality of Andorra, Mr. Pere López, have agreed to organize a leading global tourism forum in this prime tourism destination of the Pyrenees, during the first quarter of 2011.
 
This event, to be held in close collaboration with other key international partners and stakeholders, aims to bring together high-level representatives of the public and private sectors so as to provide the industry with strategic insights and guidance into the global challenges lying ahead. It will also reinforce the growing cooperation between UNWTO and the Government of Andorra.
 
The definitive dates have not yet been set for this first edition, although the intention is to celebrate the Forum during the first quarter of next year. Mr. Rifai commented on the importance of this event being the centre of reflection of the tourism industry and on the special emphasis that will given to it so that the principal tourism representatives and Ministers of Tourism or State Secretaries travel to Andorra to attend the World Tourism Forum Andorra.
