Reinventing Snow and Mountain Tourism to Attract New Customers

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Principality of Andorra will hold the sixth World Congress on Snow and Mountain in Ordino, Principality of Andorra, on 13th and 14th April 2010.

This Congress will be entitled Reinventing Snow and Mountain Tourism to Attract New Customers and aims to evaluate snow tourism, as well as to be a platform for sharing knowledge, information and professional viewpoints while promoting current situation analysis and reflection on future prospects.

The conference programme shall address aspects such as the development of new potential market segments, especially juniors and seniors; the need to create unique experiences; the fascination with the mountain; the use of information technology and new promotional tools; the adjustment of pricing; and the improvement of productivity and profitability.

The two main debates will focus on the mountain’s fascination and risks and the successful factors of leading mountain resorts. The inaugural session will be on 13th April and chaired by the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization, Taleb Rifai, who will discuss the link between international demand and local supply.

The World Tourism Organization and the Government of Andorra organise this Congress since 1998. In recent editions, some 150 delegates participated, from 24 countries, from the snow tourism and mountain sectors.
