Practicum Second Edition 2010
The UNWTO Practicum second edition, organised by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and its UNWTO.Themis Foundation, was inaugurated on 22th November 2010 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry of Andorra.
This initiative is an intensive two-week programme carried out at UNWTO Headquarters in Madrid and at the UNWTO.Themis Foundation in the Principality of Andorra. Its threefold objective is to (i) capacity build the officials of Tourism Administrations at national and regional level with state-of-the-art knowledge and practical experiences in core areas of responsibilities, such as Tourism Marketing, which is the area to be addressed in the UNWTO Practicum Seminar; (ii) familiarize officials from UNWTO Member States with the UNWTO programme of work; and (iii) create the opportunity for networking between officials of Member States and with UNWTO officials and UNWTO.Themis staff. The programme of activities is complemented with conferences, seminars and technical visits focused on specific aspects of tourism policy, strategy, and marketing, and destination management.
The programme of the UNWTO Practicum Seminar, which finishes on 3st December, comprises: Developing a marketing strategy; Market research; Market segmentation; Product development; Positioning and branding; Operational Marketing; E-marketing; evaluating of National Tourism Organization marketing activities and stakeholders accounting and related practical activities.
