New edition on UNWTO-Excellence in Tourism Management course

With the participation of National Tourism Administrations Officials from Africa and South America, the World Tourism Organization, with its UNWTO.Themis Foundation, and the Government of Argentina have started the course on UNWTO-Excellence in Tourism Management in the Province of Chaco, Argentina.

The course, inaugurated on 2nd August, was attended by Gonzalo Casanova Ferro, National Director of Quality Tourism Management from the Ministry of Tourism; Angela Ayala, Director of Quality and Training in Mintur; Adrian Contreras Coordinator of the Federal Tourism Council, Juan Chaquira, Secretary General of the Government of the Province of Chaco, José Ignacio Saife, Vice-Secretary of Tourism of the Province of Chaco, Sònia Figueras, UNWTO.Capacity Programme Manager in the UNWTO.Themis Foundation, Rodolfo Lizano and Alessio Poluzzi experts and specialists on planning and marketing respectively.

This course, held from 2nd and 7th August in Resistencia, Province of Chaco, aims to train participants in the implementation on various methodologies for the analysis of potential and competitive development elements of a destination, aimed at implementing a planning and management system that includes the following: (i) How to set development objectives?, (ii) How to develop a tourism strategy?, (iii) How to create and sell a tourism product?, (iv) How to develop a programme of public / private actions?. Among the practical activities of this capacity building initiative, participants are to do their fieldwork on the Isla del Cerrito.
