World Tourism Day 2012 @ Taylor's University Lakeside Campus, Malaysia

Jointly organized by the Nature, Adventure and Tourism Club (NATC), PATA Malaysia Taylor’s Student Chapter (PATAMTSC) and the School of Tourism, Events & Recreation (SOTER), the university answers the call for this yearly celebration. This event is organised to create awareness about World Tourism Day and to enrich the students with knowledge of the industry and related sectors. It is aimed to provide a platform for interactions of tourism students from different universities and create connection between them. The activities of the event include talks from industry experts, different immersive competitions, as well as a variety of stalls to indulge. As students undertaking a Bachelor’s program in the field of tourism, it is our responsibility to enhance ourselves with knowledge and experience when it comes to the industry. Such an event can be utilized in a way that it offers the students a chance to get a global experience in terms of knowledge, along with a recreational aspect with the activities that we are proposing. Whilst the variety in competitions allows for participation of students with different skill sets, it gives them opportunity to engage in the topic at hand: Sustainable development. Furthermore, experienced speakers from the industry will be providing talks which participants can undoubtedly benefit from. All in all, the event aims to create awareness about sustainable tourism as a whole and provide an exhilarating experience for its participants.
