Eastern Michigan University's Geotourism Program: World Tourism Day Social Media Event

“Like” the Eastern Michigan University Geotourism Program on Facebook and help celebrate the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) 2013 World Tourism Day. This year’s theme: Tourism and Water: Protecting our Common Future is especially relevant as Michigan is surrounded by the Great Lakes. Our state’s award-winning and innovative tourism campaign, “Pure Michigan” depends on the health and beauty of our water systems. We encourage our Geotourism Program students as well as all EMU students, faculty and the public to post water themed-vacation photos and discuss why the featured body of water should be conserved/cleaned up/part of community development. The purpose of this social media event is to foster awareness among the university/local/national/international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value. The social media event on the Eastern Michigan University Geotourism Program Facebook page runs from 2013-09-20 to 2013-09-27.
