Celebration of World Tourism day2016

The Department of Tourism and Travel Management (TTM) of Bajali College in collaboration with Manas Ever Welfare Society (MEWS) and Birina tourist lodge, a unit of Astha Natures Tours and Travels celebrated the world tourism day on 27th September 2016 with a day-long programme simultaneously in Bajali College and at Bansbari near Manas National Park. The programme began with a cleanliness drive at Bajali college premises under Saccha Bharat Abhiyan in the morning. The World Tourism day programme at Bansbari started with a drawing competition among students of Seuj Jatiya Vidyalaya of Bansbari where a good number of students participated. A talk on this year`s world tourism day theme, ‘Tourism for all-Promoting Universal accessibility' was delivered by Mukul Patgiri, a differently able assistant professor of the Department of History, Bajali College. In his talk, Sri Patgiri spoke of the intense desire of travel in him and narrated how he has been traveling in spite of his physical weakness. In this connection, he stressed upon the need of ensuring efficient transportation and public services and creating a conducive environment for physically challenged people. The talk was followed by an interactive meet with local tourism service providers.Mr. Arindam Talukdar, the coordinator of TTM Department and Chairperson of the proceedings, explained the purpose of the celebration of World Tourism day and also stressed on the need of involving local communities of tourism destinations in such endeavor. He informed how the department of TTM, Bajali College has been persistently trying in this regard and highlighted such capacity building initiatives of the department for empowering local youth to serve in the tourism sector. Earlier Mr Bubul Nath and Kishak Pathak of MEWS and Birina Tourist Lodge welcomed all and thanked the organizers for collaborating with their organizations in celebrating this year's World Tourism day in the periphery of Manas National Park. The programme ended with a prize distribution ceremony anchored by Rima Kalita, lecturer of Bajali College.
