Belfry Tourism Convention Belfry Tourism Excellence Awards Rationale: The City Government of Dumaguete through the City Tourism Office endeavors to optimize the contribution of tourism industry to the inclusive growth of the city while enhancing and contributing to the social cohesion and cultural preservation of the community. In recognition to the exceptional contribution, innovation and hard work of various tourism stakeholders, thus, we establish the Belfry Tourism Excellence Awards. The Tourism Industry is an essential component in every community. The achievement of a strong industry is a tedious working progress if without the involvement of the tourism stakeholders. In view thereof, recognizing exemplary agencies, establishments and individuals who have given numerous contributions for the development of the community and the industry is imperative to the city government. This is in partnership with the Negros Oriental Tourism Office, the Sidlakang Negros Association of Tourism Officers (SINATO), and the Tourism Educators Council of Negros Oriental & Siquijor (TECNOS). This recognition shall convey a solid testimony that all creative works and extraordinary services are acknowledged and are not taken aside. Such honorable deeds are indeed worth noticing and publicized. This will be an annual system of recognition aspiring for a continuous commemoration for the best in the tourism industry, in the hope that all will continue with their great endeavors for the realization of a robust Dumaguete tourism industry. The recognition day will coincide with the conduct of the first Belfry Tourism Convention (BTC) slated on September 27, 2014 at 9:00AM at the Negros Oriental Convention Center. Unlike other fundraising conventions, this is to gather in fellowship with the various tourism stakeholders and discuss various issues and topics affecting the tourism industry. Coincidentally, the Belfry Tourism Convention is held in observance with the World Tourism Day with global theme: “Tourism and Community Development”. Significantly, these Tourism Stakeholders have been our partners and benefactors in various endeavors in the city government such as but are not limited to the conduct of the City Charter Day Anniversary, National Heritage Month celebration, and other tourism-related activities through the years. Truly, the convention and the awards system instituted is the first of its kind the city government has created to pay tribute to our industry stakeholders that have exhibited with great resolved in contributing to the robust tourism industry. Furthermore, we are confident that this program will greatly enhance and intensify the customer service and world class standard our industry can offer. RULES GOVERNING NOMINATIONS: 1. The nominations for the awards are open to all accommodations establishments, travel agencies and individuals in Dumaguete and Negros Oriental only. 2. The following are the five (5) Award Categories with sub-categories. 2.1 Accommodation Establishment 2.1.1 Outstanding Accommodation Establishment 2.1.2 Outstanding Front Office Personnel 2.2 Travel and Tours 2.2.1 Outstanding Travel and Tour Operator 2.2.2 Outstanding Tour Guide 2.3 Restaurants 2.3.1 Outstanding Customer Service Award 2.3.2 Outstanding Signature Dish 2.4 Transport Sector 2.4.1 Outstanding Tricycle Driver 2.4.2 Outstanding Transport Operator 2.5 Others 2.5.1 Outstanding Business Innovator 2.5.2 Outstanding Tourism Practitioner 3. The nominee must sign the nomination form attesting to all facts contained therein, giving consent to the verification by the screening committee and judges, the subsequent publication of said facts, and indicating willingness to attend the awards ceremonies if selected. 4. Guidelines for each specific award will be indicated on the succeeding annexes. 5. Deadline for submission of entry/ entries will be by 12 noon on September 5, 2014. There will be two screening processes to determine the 2014 winners in every category and levels: • September 8 – 12, 2014 (Verification, Recommendation and Preliminary Judging) All nominated agencies, establishments and individuals shall be endorsed to the Panel of Experts duly convened by the Executive Director who shall validate and shortlist the nominations and come up with a list of finalist in each category. All finalists will be informed via email or phone call through the information registered on the nomination forms submitted. • September 15 -23, 2014 (Final Review and Judging ) All finalists in all categories and levels are required to submit themselves to a one- on-one interview with each of the members of the Panel of Jurors that is organized to review the merits of the recommendations of the Panel of Experts. For the Outstanding Signature Dish Award, the nominees shall be presenting the dish nominated to the Panel of Jurors. The Panel of Jurors, after a thorough evaluation and deliberation and in accordance to the set criteria, shall declare the final recipients of the Belfry Tourism Excellence Awards 2014. 7. All Finalists are expected to attend the Awarding Ceremony on September 27, 2014 to be held at the Negros Oriental Convention Center. 8. The decisions of the judges are final and irrevocable. 9. Any announcement/media releases on the awards should properly categorize the exact details of the award received. 10. Nomination forms may be acquired from the City Tourism Office.
