Awareness Programme for Senior School Children in the Community
The Travel and Tourism (Cambridge) Advanced Level students of Ladies College Colombo 7 Sri Lanka conducted an awareness programme for students of Rajapakse Maha Vidyalaya in Ahungalla with the assistance of the Tourism Studies Unit of the Department of Economics of the University of Colombo. The students first participated in the awareness walk and then proceeded to the school where they enacted a skit, conducted a quiz, conducted a poster competition and distributed handmade bookmarks to create awareness about responsible tourism with community involvement. The event was also graced by several industry personnel who shared their experiences with the students. As the only school offering the subject the Ladies College students have been involved in many other programmes related to data collection and industry awareness
