11th UNWTO Asia Pacific Executive Training Programme on Tourism Policy and Strategy

11th UNWTO Asia Pacific Executive Training Programme on Tourism Policy and Strategy

The 11th UNWTO Asia Pacific Executive Training Programme on Tourism Policy and Strategy will be organized by Regional Programme for Asia and the Pacific in collaboration with the Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority from the 20 to 23 of March in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

UNWTO has been conducting this annual high-level executive training program on tourism policy and strategy in the Asia-Pacific region since 2006. This program has been an important forum for high-level policy makers of the region´s National Tourism Administrations to get together and strengthen effective and responsive formulation of policies and strategies. After ten years of strong support from the government of the Republic of Korea (ROK), has become an iconic activity of UNWTO in the region. And it will again be fully sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the ROK.

The theme of this year’s four-day training program is "Sustainable Tourism for Development". This is in conjunction with 2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development and taking into cognizance the imperative to improve resource efficiency and to protect, conserve and preserve natural and cultural heritage. In addition, emphasis will be placed on initiatives to optimize the benefits of international cooperation for peace and development.
