Responsible Borneo (aka REBORN) was established in response to tourism rebuild in Sarawak as well as the global economic recovery in the wake of COVID-19. At its core, REBORN focuses on the importance, urgency and significance of responsible behavior and collective actions for sustainable development. It adopts the responsible tourism movement as a vehicle to empower the local community and harness partnerships for common good. REBORN has six main missions: Partnership: To establish strategic alliance nationally and internationally to promote responsible tourism and sustainable practice. Consultancy: To provide consultancy services to the industry to facilitate decision-making and achieve practical objectives. Research: To advance knowledge through research and publication as well as develop innovative approaches for a better solution. Training: To provide a wide range of educational programs to prepare the young generation and develop more skilled workforce. Event: To conduct forums, seminars and conferences in partnership with tourism stakeholders to facilitate networking and knowledge transfer. Community: To administer communal and capacity building programs to engage with and empower community members to safeguard the destinations and heritage.
