Ras Al Khaimah is one of the seven emirates that form the U.A.E. The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (TDA) was established in May 2011 under the government of Ras Al Khaimah. In order to achieve target growth of one million visitors by the end of 2018, the authority aims to develop the Emirate´s tourism infrastructure and establish Ras Al Khaimah as a world-class destination for leisure and business travel, creating sustainable investment opportunities and enhancing the quality of life for its residents. In roder to achieve its goals, the Ras Al Khaimah TDA has a government mandate to license, regulate and monitor the emirate´s tourism and hospitality industry, to develop the Emirate´s tourism infrastructure and attractions and to generate and encourage direct tourism investment and investment opportunities into Ras Al Khaimah.

"Destination Ras Al Khaimah 2019" is the first Tourism Strategy for the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and sets out a clear roadmap for growing tourism in the years ahead. Under the guidance of HH Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, it sets out the vision and strategic framework for tourism in Ras Al Khaimah. Sustainable Tourism is one of the key pillars of the new strategy. Our vision is to create a compelling destination for visitors seeking authentic culture and nature based Arabian experiences. We will highlight those aspects of our assets that are unique to Ras Al Khaimah and present them to the World and ensure the highest possible standards are delivered at each touch point of the customer journey.

RAKTDA promoted the Emirate´s tourism products and services through a variety of activities, including: research and analysis of future tourism projects and current trends; representation of Ras Al Khaimah at tourism industry and overseas travel shows; educating travel professionals on Ras Al Khaimah´s unique attractions through workshops, roadshows, familiarization and training programs; coordinating and implementing joint initiatives with key travel industry players; branding and marketing strategies to encourage tourism and investment into the Emirate; media and consumer campaigns and promotions; hosting sporting and cultural events.

Each year RAK TDA hosts the anual World Tourism Day celebrations in collaboration with NCTA (UAE´s National Council for Tourism and Antiquities) - in line with the UNWTO celebrations. At this year´s conference, Ras Al Khaimah invited keynote speaker Ivor Ambrose, and RAKTDA announced its commitment to become a member of ENAT and commence the journey to make Ras al Khaimah an accessible tourism destinaion.
