The Community of Practice for Tourism Climate Action sessions are designed as a strategic and focused platform to bring together key stakeholders – signatories and member states/climate focal points – who play a critical role in shaping and influencing climate action within the tourism sector. These sessions aim to create a synergistic environment where participants can learn from each other, build meaningful connections, and collectively contribute towards advancing the agenda of low carbon and climate-resilient tourism.

Objectives:

  • Knowledge sharing and dissemination:
    • To showcase and highlight climate action plans and initiatives implemented by signatories and member states/climate focal points.
    • To foster a culture of learning, where participants can gain insights, inspiration, and practical knowledge to enhance their own climate action strategies within the tourism sector.
  • Collaboration and networking:
    • To facilitate interactions and discussions among signatories, member states, and climate focal points, promoting collaboration, partnership building, and the exchange of ideas.
    • To create opportunities for participants to identify synergies, share resources, and explore potential avenues for joint initiatives and projects.
  • Policy alignment and harmonization:
    • To encourage alignment and harmonization of climate action policies, strategies, and initiatives across different organizations alongside the tourism value chain.
    • To promote a cohesive approach towards addressing climate change challenges within the tourism sector, ensuring consistency, effectiveness, and maximum impact.
  • Inspiration and motivation:
    • To inspire and motivate participants by showcasing success stories, case studies, and transformative actions that have led to significant positive impacts on climate resilience and sustainability within the tourism sector.
