Launching Two Cultural-touristic Routes of National Level and the Meeting of the EDEN Destinations in Romania

Calender Text
The event organized in Târgu Jiu with the occasion of the World Tourism Day, will highlight two projects implemented by the national tourism administration in Romania: recognising cultural-touristic and designating EDEN Destinations.
The first part of the event consists in launching two of the cultural-touristic routes of national level recognised by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism: the Route of the European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN) in Romania and the Route of tourist destinations in Romania awarded by FIJET (International Federation of Tourism Journalists and Writers) with the Golden Apple, the trophy for excellence in the development and promotion of tourism.
At the moment there are recognised 118 cultural-touristic routes: 27 of national level, 53 of regional level and 38 of local level. Besides the routes recognised by the ministry, in Romania there are attractions included in 9 European cultural routes of the Council of Europe and 4 transnational cultural-touristic routes.
More information about the cultural-touristic routes:
http://turism.gov.ro/web/rute-cultural-turistice/
During the second part of the event the meeting of EDEN Destinations in Romania will take place, with the aim to facilitate networking and the exchange of experience and best practices.
Between 2008-2019 in Romania there were designated 39 EDEN destinations for the 9 themes of the contest. The EDEN Project – European Destinations of ExcelleNce was launched by the European Commission in 2006. The objectives refer to the increase of visibility for non-traditional destinations, raising awareness over the diversity and quality of European tourism offer, reducing seasonality, supporting sustainable tourism, networking between destinations.

International Congress on Thermal Tourism

Calender Text
With the participation of UNWTO its affiliate member EHTTA (European Historic Thermal Towns Association) is holding this Thermal Tourism Congress, hosted by Ourense Province and Municipality and Galicia Region. The three pillars of the event are Tourism, Heritage and Experience, bringing experts from all around the globe to the stage and discuss best practices and the future of thermal destinations and their sustainabilty.

Thermal tourism is considered to be one of those fields of tourism which could experience the greatest growth after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tourists will be looking for wellness experiences, immersing themselves in the destinations and interacting with local inhabitants. It is necessary to explore connections with other cultural and natural resources to create new and better sustainable thermal products.

Thermal Tourism is a powerful tool to contribute to safeguard the world’s thermal heritage (natural, cultural and intangible) and to provide socio-economic benefits, including the dynamisation of rural areas and the creation of stable employment and income-earning opportunities. Thermal tourism needs to be recognised as an instrument for sustainable development and as a model for other tourism sectors or products.

National Seminar on Rethinking Tourism: Strategies for Developing Domestic tourism in India.

Calender Text
Now Tourism and Hospitality industry is genuinely recognized as a core pillar of development and employment opportunities. Moreover, thanks to the unique breadth of the sector, touching on almost every part of our societies, it has the power to drive recovery and get the tourism community back on track. For people, it is a leading employer and provider of opportunities, most notably for women, youth, and rural communities.

For our planet, the tourism sector helps safeguard habitat and species – witness how the sudden halt in tourist arrivals has led to an increase in habitat destruction and wildlife poaching in many parts of the world.
Tourism has also been leading by example in facing up to its climate responsibilities. The innovation driving the sector forward can help us build a more sustainable future for all.

The seminar will also give an appropriate platform to showcase the talent, creativity, and innovation of future tourism and hospitality professionals through various inter-college/ inter-university competitions:-
1. Tourism Quiz Contest
2. Craft it- Itinerary Designing competition
3. Life on earth- Poster Making Contest
4. Dekho Mera Desh/Pradesh- Traditional Modelling Competition
5. Skit Competition (responsible tourism/climate change/nature-based T. etc.)
6. Meri Kashi Mera pride - Photographic Essay Competition
7. Folk Lore- Folk Dance Competition

The purpose of such competitions is to encourage and promote professional skills, team building, creativity, and innovativeness in youth by providing them exposure to competition among their peers and inculcating within them the concept of creating, applying, and developing innovative thinking, which will enrich and enhance their learning and knowledge.
Dr. A.K. Singh & Dr. P.S. Rana (Seminar Organisers)
