Pro-local Rural Tourism: Naga Oun Village in Egypt

Naga Oun, Beheira Government, Egypt.

On the sidelines of our celebration of World Tourism Day 2023, in line with this year's theme "Investing in People, Planet, and Prosperity", and based on our belief in the social responsibility that educational institutions should hold towards the community, the students of the faculty of tourism and hotel management at Pharos University in Alexandria, Egypt, paid a visit and will repeat it on September 27, 2023, to Naga Oun village, one of the undeveloped villages in Egypt that has a great deal of untapped potential and resources for tourism activities and the local economy, in addition to some challenges and barriers.
The village engages in rooftop farming, carpet-making, and silkworm rearing for silk. These visits are part of a project called "Pro-local Rural Tourism: Naga Oun Village," aiming to transform Naga Oun into a rural tourist spot by empowering the locals, creating awareness about their potential, and offering technology-based marketing training.
