International Tourism and COVID-19

• 1 billion fewer international tourist arrivals in 2021
• Loss of US$ 1.0 trillion in total export revenues from international tourism in 2021
• International tourist arrivals increased 102% in 2022 over 2021, but remained 37% below 2019
• International tourism receipts recovered the USD 1 trillion mark in 2022 and reached 64% of pre-pandemic levels
• International tourist arrivals grew 86% in Q1 2023 and reached 80% of pre-pandemic levels in the same quarter
